A new network of businesses to promote and support the furnishing chain of Venice, through synergistic collaborations pooling innovation and skills: this is the aim behind the establishment of VEDE (Venice Excellence Design). The new network gathers together a range of businesses seeking to optimise the manufacturing excellence of Triveneto in design, by creating a collective identity giving value and strength to the individual businesses.
The construction of a single cultural research and design platform takes shape following the need by the businesses to go beyond a “district”-based production model and to redefine the very concept of territory as an element of cultural, as well as economic identity.
The goal is to create a new development model able to promote local excellence through the organisation of a system able to optimise the synergistic relations between businesses on an international level. The operations also involves the creation of a collective mark able to explain the connection with the Venetian territory and communicate its specificity in terms of manufacturing know-how.
The subscribing businesses (Arredoplast, Casamania, Dieffebi, Doimo Salotti, Elmar, Estel Group, Idea Group, Lapalma, Palazzetti, Venezia Home Design) represent the highest quality achieved on the territory in the furnishing chain - from office to home furniture, kitchens and contract. The aim is to implement a form of mutual collaboration and coordination that will enable the individual businesses to renew their business culture and compete more effectively on the global markets.
The VEDE programme involves the essential collaboration with the Fondazione di Venezia, a strategic partner for the communication and development of the initiative, with the universities (IUAV and Cà Foscari) of Venice; they will stand alongside VEDE in searching out new opportunities for entertaining profitable relations under the scope of the territorial social-cultural promotion.
As its “opening act”, the VEDE business network will be débuting as Supporter Sponsor of the 14th International Architecture Exhibition of la Biennale di Venezia, scheduled to open on 7th June. Here, it will be presenting its products to furnish the communal area of the Giardini and Arsenale venues.

Estel’s business can be identified as a merging between the domestic world and the professional efficiency typical of an office. This is Estel’s DNA: research that does not completely limit a piece of furniture to a single intended use, but opens up to transversality and naturalness as central principles for contemporary furnishings.
During the Nineteen-Thirties Estel, taking its name from Estensibile Stella (literally: Extendible Star), was founded by Alfredo Stella. The Company interpreted the best definition of wardrobes and containers for the new home interiors of Italian families. These were unparalleled years for patents and memorable commercial successes, such as the Estensible Stella Wardrobe with sliding doors. The ‘70s saw the birth of Project Office which gave Estel the leadership in the Italian market, together with the Contract Division which was added in the Nineties.
During the course of its nearly 90-year history Estel has invested in an area where it has been difficult to find a reality able to interpret with competent and accurate service, the warmth and uniqueness of a home as well as the functionality necessary for major Contract projects. In this “broad” sense we find projects with timeless design which could be defined as modern classics. In Estel’s production departments we experiment with forms, refine solutions, and seek both the most advanced and the most antique materials. Past and present dialogue without ceasing, between the passion and the attention to the details given by each figure involved: both from Management, in the person of Alberto Stella, to the designers, the marketing department, and the artisans in the production area.
Estel projects bear the signatures of some of the biggest names in the history of international design, from Carlo Scarpa, to Oscar Niemeyer, to Enzo Mari, Kazuhide Takahama, Jorge Pensi, Umberto Riva, Ross Lovegrove, Philippe Norguet, Toshiyuky Kita, and Sebastian Bergne, just to name a few.

This is the story of a typical, Italian, family-run concern. It is about the "Made in Italy" products that started to become unquestionably successful in the 50s/60s, during the so-called “economic miracle”.
It is the story of a business initiative that resulted in the foundation, in 1954, of a company that is now international, a leader in Italy and one of the most prominent European firms in the competitive fireplace, stove and boiler sector, offering products that have innovated the market, with a turnover of 75 million Euro and a presence in 36 countries all over the world. These products that are not just beautiful and well-built but are also, and foremost, efficient, easy to install and simple to use.
A vast range of products capable of meeting any architectural and technical requirement, that comply with the most intricate requests of the elite, house-design circles that have resulted in prestigious creative collaborations with great, internationally-renowned designers.
Innovative products developed in compliance with the highest technological standards that fully respect the environment. They are tested and certified by the most prestigious European Institutes as well as by consumer-protection and environmental associations.
This is also the story of a special bond with a territory, with the province of Pordenone that has always hosted Palazzetti’s expansion. A reciprocal bond of affection sealed by the presence of three production plants located on a total surface of over 150,000 m2 with over 300 employees and 500 workers involved in induced activities. Of note are initiatives aimed at strengthening friendships and partnerships, such as the annual Family Day, the ongoing training and refresher courses, the advertising campaigns and the informative ones aimed at making people more aware of the value of working in Italy.
A long, very dynamic journey during which the Company, that has been managed by the Palazzetti family for three generations, has invested energy and determination as well as that extra vitality that expresses the ability to create, to innovate and to fulfil a vision that slowly turns into new projects.
Each phase of this long story has been marked by ongoing technological innovation and by attention to environmental issues on the whole, going from ecological products to ecology in the strictest meaning of the word. The dual-combustion technology, for instance, dates back to 1991 and has contributed to reducing carbon monoxide emissions into the atmosphere and to increasing the heat efficiency of the firebox.
The first, Italian, pellet-burning stove was produced in 1994: its name is Ecofire®. This product really revolutionised the way stoves were used to heat homes: this fully automatic and programmable product boasts emissions of carbon monoxide and particulates that are twice as smaller than they used to be and than wood combustion. Just think that nowadays pallet-burning stoves make up more than 60% of the Italian market.
Another revolution arrived ten years late: the dual-fuel Multifire stove that meant consumers no longer had to choose between firewood or pellets, between traditional wood heating and practical pellet heating because both fuels can be used together in total safety. This innovation has received many international awards (Grand Prix de l’innovation di Bois Energie (France), Vesta Award of Hearth&Home (USA), etc.)
The first sealed, pellet-burning stove was produced in 2009. This technology is necessary to meet recent passive and/or low consumption home requirements.
Research has looked into and solved even very sensitive issues such as the need to purify exiting fumes. By means of the O2Ring project, Palazzetti has devised the first system capable of eliminating over 80% of the particulates produced by wood combustion. Perfect for the environment, it meets the utilisation requirements of all the geographic areas governed by laws that limit the use of biomasses that exceed certain emissions.
This same ecological commitment drove Palazzetti to start, in 2012, an important sustainability project with the Ministry for the Environment to promote shared projects aimed at analysing, reducing and neutralising the impact of production on the environment.
Concerning environmental re-qualification, the company’s constant commitment to initiatives regarding forest conservation and replanting of trees is of particular interest: this is a clear indication of how Palazzetti focuses on environmental protection and on natural and renewable energy sources.
The company’s pride and joy are its technological research laboratories that now employ 23 people who are constantly in touch with similar international entities to study solutions that are ahead of time.
Palazzetti is acknowledged as a company that is always pressing forwards, ready to favour future markets in a dynamic and reliable way and to work successfully on a competitive global market that will continue to appreciate its strong Italian identity.
